This week, we’re spotlighting Bhramari Pranayama. This deeply grounding practice is accessible to anyone who can hum—it doesn’t even have to be in tune! (Though, interestingly, a lower hum is said to be more effective.) Some people find this practice wonderfully calming, while others might feel a bit self-conscious, but I hope learning about its benefits will make it a valuable tool for you this season. For those interested, the late Michael Mosley explored related topics in his Just One Thing episode about the importance of nasal breathing. |
To practice- sit, stand or lie comfortably. Take an easy, slow breath in through the nose and hum the exhale. Notice the sensation of the vibrations of the breath. Practice as many times as feels comfortable. Pause, enjoy the resonance of the practice. |
